About the course

Teachers are among the professions with the highest burnout rates – yet the topic of health in teaching is often overlooked in both training and everyday practice. Our mindfulness course, designed specifically for educators, aims to address this issue by equipping you with tools to handle stress and be mindful of your body’s signals.

In this course, you will learn to recognize stress early on and respond to it effectively. Through exercises like yoga, meditation, and various mindfulness techniques, we introduce simple yet powerful ways to bring more joy and relaxation into your daily routine. These practices are easy to integrate into a teacher’s day and are designed to sustainably support your well-being. 🌿

Additionally, we provide mindfulness exercises that you can practice with your students, helping to create a more relaxed and harmonious atmosphere in the classroom. Our goal is to help you rediscover ease and joy in your profession – for both you and your students!

Program

Our Course Schedule

Day 1: Welcome to the Mindfulness Oasis

The first day is dedicated to arrival, getting acquainted, exchange, and laying the foundation for the coming days. Learn the basics of mindfulness and discover the crucial role resilience plays in the teaching profession. We prepare for a week of self-discovery and growth.

Day 2: Scent Journeys and Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Immerse yourself in the world of essential oils and their effects on your mindfulness practice. Explore how scents can promote relaxation and concentration while learning practical applications for the classroom. Discover how progressive muscle relaxation contributes to the regulation of your nervous system. Learn effective mindfulness exercises such as forest bathing and mindful walking in the Paphos forest. Immerse yourself in nature and experience how these simple techniques can help you calm down, reduce stress, and recharge your batteries.

Day 3: Yoga and Mindfulness: Harmony for Body and Mind (weather permitting, this course preferably takes place in nature)

Spend this day outdoors and experience various breathing and body exercises to deepen the principles of mindfulness. These practical exercises help you sharpen your concentration and reduce stress. Create a plan of which exercises have particularly helped you and how you can integrate them into your daily routine. Together, we gather ideas on how similar exercises can be integrated into the school day. As preparation for Day 4, we prepare a "Mindful Excursion". We discuss the choice of location and which mindfulness practices can be applied.

Day 4: Mindful Excursion

Mindful excursion to a culturally relevant site. Practicing mindfulness together during the excursion (e.g., mindfully observing the surroundings, consciously perceiving shapes, mindful photography). After the excursion, we reflect on the trip and the mindfulness experiences. We talk about how to integrate these into the school day.

Day 5: Mindfulness in the Classroom: Exercises, Manifestations, and Conclusion

Further mindfulness exercises for the classroom are introduced and tried out. This includes manifestations, dissolving and reframing beliefs, raising awareness of thoughts and feelings. This is done through the expression of thoughts and feelings in art, writing, and language. We end our seminar with a summary of the most important findings and an outlook on further possibilities to deepen the mindfulness practice, as well as a feedback round.

This course not only deepens your mindfulness practice but also equips you with tools to create a supportive and mindful classroom environment. Discover how mindfulness and resilience can improve not only your well-being but also the learning experience of your students.

We look forward to accompanying you on this mindful journey.
